Corporate social responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is about being a responsible business – built on strong values and ethical business practices – and understanding and responding to the expectations of our stakeholders such as our employees, suppliers, investors, customers and society at large.  It is a mix of responsible behaviour towards the marketplace, the workplace, the community and the environment.

Environmental Responsibility

Climate change is the greatest challenge facing society today.  The world is warming up, largely because of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide.  As a technology business we have an important role to play in helping to minimise climate change.  Causeway has therefore made a commitment not only to reduce its own emissions, but to also provide ways to help our customers become more efficient and to reduce their footprint as well.

As responsible corporate members of society, Causeway is committed to the proactive management and effective control of the environmental impact of its activities and aims to make a positive contribution to the environment through a number of strategic initiatives.  We are pleased to have been awarded Carbon Neutral status in recognition of all our CO2 emissions having been quantified, independently verified by Carbon Clear and reduced to net zero.  Whilst it may not be possible to offset all of our emissions solely through business change, the remainder is offset to zero by our investing in carbon credits within the Carbon Clear portfolio.  The programme includes Verified Emission Reductions (VER’s) investing in renewable energy schemes.  We are also actively working with Carbon Clear on a carbon management programme to monitor and cut our energy, waste and travel emissions across all of our offices, adopt a code of ethical purchasing which promotes safe and fair working conditions and the sound management of environmental and social issues in our supply chain, to reduce our carbon footprint and become carbon neutral.

Technology can be an agent of positive change and we aspire to help make the world around us a better place for everyone. Products such as our award winning Causeway Tradex, our sustainability product or Causeway Telematics, are already providing some of our customers with ways to eliminate inefficiencies and wastage.

Customer and Supplier Commitment

Causeway is committed to providing high quality standards at all times and ethical purchasing.  This includes the highest levels of customer service, treating our customers and our suppliers with respect, being clear in our dealings with everyone, being professional, reliable and committed to meeting requirements and the sound management of environmental and social issues in our supply chain.  We have invested heavily in our workforce of over 200 highly qualified and experienced people who are the Construction Software people. We encourage best practice and knowledge sharing across our business and support and encourage continuous learning and development to help us achieve our commitment to our customers and our suppliers.

Investing in the Community

We believe that our success should go hand in hand with social responsibility.  Causeway Technologies is therefore committed to working in partnership with a range of community organisations and charities to make a positive contribution.  We also encourage our employees to become involved in volunteering and fundraising activities, including the use of schemes such as volunteering for community activities or public duties, making tax efficient donations, and raising money for good causes.  We are proud of the rallying spirit of our employees which is a driving force behind our commitment.

In 2007 we teamed up with the London Wasps Apprentice scheme and are delighted to be the main sponsor.  Our partnership includes sponsorship of the team and financial support for accommodation for the boys from less affluent family backgrounds.  In addition, our support also involves personal development and preparation for life beyond rugby and university.  The apprentice programme aims to instil the values of learning, respect, discipline and hard work.

During 2009 Causeway also became the Platinum Sponsor of the Buckinghamshire Young People of the Year (YOPEY) Awards to focus on building awareness of the massive contribution young people make to today’s society.  YOPEY was a contest run around the Buckinghamshire area which awarded prizes to youngsters from across the county who are ‘positive role models and give to others’.

In 2010 Causeway is sponsoring Lawrence Dallaglio who is raising money for Sport Relief and the Dallaglio Foundation.  Causeway is sponsoring the 6 Nations cycle tour and in addition three Causeway Directors are cycling alongside the Dallaglio team to raise £1 million.

Valuing our Employees

Causeway recognises that the success of its business depends on the knowledge, capability and dedication of its people.  We are therefore committed to rewarding and developing our employees in the most effective way, identifying their potential and providing them with opportunities for development.  We are committed to equality and diversity in all our activities as well as supporting the wellbeing of our team.  Our aim is to make Causeway a great place to work – ultimately ensuring that we are providing the best customer experience.
