The Prince of Wales has announced that his old curtains are to be turned into carrier bags to promote a sustainability campaign.
The conversion will happen during a 12 day garden party where visitors will be able to sew their own bags, called Morsbags, from curtains that used to hang in Clarence House. Morsbags are large, square shopping bags carried over the shoulder and are made by volunteers and given away to the public to help reduce the millions of plastic carrier bags used every day.
The garden party represents the formal launch of the Prince’s Start initiative, which aims to encourage sustainable living: The Prince commented: “This festival aims to give people of all ages a fun day out, while at the same time, via the many imaginative exhibits, demonstrating the small steps that can, and are, being taken by all of us interested in building a more sustainable future.”
